SATURDAY STORIES: THE DREAM

I had always prayed to God to give me a wonderful wife and i had made promises of
how i would go the extra mile just to make sure she's comfortable.
Owing to the fact that I happen to be a shy person approaching a lady i like was a problem i mean a very big one. The issue of having a girlfriend doesn't make much sense to me not really because I see it as a distraction but because i am too shy to approach a lady and i am also scared of heartbreak because am a very emotional person and i know the toll a heartbreak would take on me and i am not ready for that. I made a vow to myself and to God that any lady that ends up being my wife I would cherish and shower her with love and care like she had never seen before.

Some days earlier i was at an event and my eyes caught this beautiful lady and i must confess i have never seen a lady this beautiful, without any artificial features she was naturally beautiful i told myself i must get to talk to her and if possible get her contact but the shy part of me was like nah she's not in your class, she might break your heart, just forget her and move on.

I was literally arguing with myself to the extent that if someone was paying attention to me would have seen the gestures on my face. After all said and done i summoned courage and i went to talk to her it was like a dream come true she was just the kind of lady i was looking for in all ramifications (spiritually, physically, academically etc). i got her contact and we got talking. She was all i could ever want in a lady.

We became good friends and closer than just normal friends but i didn't want to just jump into conclusion i made sure we were on the same page  in that aspect (I wanted to to be sure i was not in the friend zone) and just as i was hoping, we were on the same page. if the decision was left to me i would have taken the decision right there and then but i had to make sure i was on the right page also with God in this regard. I took it to God in prayers i told my pastor to also pray about it and as i was hoping the outcome was positive there and then i knew i was making the right choice.

I wasted no time in proposing and well according to her it was the best proposal she had ever seen or heard about. It was on a Saturday at the mall we were done shopping when we got to the car after dropping the things we bought into the booth. I went ahead to open the door for her but before i opened the door i told her to look up and as she looked up into the sky she saw this
Dami will you marry me?
before she looked down i was already on my knees with the ring in my hand and the answer i got gladden my heart obviously i got a yes. I was so happy i couldn't sleep all through the night.

We put everything in place just in readiness for the big day which was a month away and the D day finally arrived. I was eagerly anticipating that day not just that day but what was bound to happen that night. We were both Christians and we don't joke with the bible so we did everything the biblical way so there was no sex before marriage not even a kiss so the picture i had in my head was the way i was going to kiss her when the pastor makes the declaration "You may now kiss the bride".

The day started has as usual with all the necessary proceedings till it finally got to the part i was so eager about we both said our vows and exchange the rings and finally i heard those words have been longing to hear "you may now kiss the bride"

I didn't rush so i don't look too desperate i took my time to remove the veil covering her face i took her face in my hands just as my lips were approaching hers then i felt a tap at my back and a familiar voice followed and said
Guy how far, you no wan wake up ni? today na environmental sanitation ooo we need to clean the compound
only for me to turn and i saw my roommate standing by the bed that was when realized it was all a dream.

Why did he allow the devil to use him to stop the wonderful dream? Why did he wait till i got to that specific part of the dream before he woke me up? Why did he not just wait for a minute of two maybe i would have finished the dream and woke up on my own. Those were the questions in my head as i looked at him dumbfounded.

TIME AND TIMING (MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY)

TIME AND TIMING

Time is a special gift from God, given equally to every human being that ever lived, are living, and will live. 24 hours to everybody, and the good thing is that it is within our control.

Timing is opportunity that shows up in the space of time. This definitely is not within our control. It just shows up.

So many people complain of not having what they want, and they give excuses of not having opportunity, maybe wealth and influence too. The truth is: the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happens to them all- the swift, strong, weak, poor,....

Imagine a scenario: Mr. A understands that there are only 24 hours in a day, and therefore spends quality hours learning about stock which he knew nothing about. In the next six months, he has already known every useful thing on stock and can even render useful advice. He then shows up in a conference where stock was argued, and he gives useful advice for free. His advice worked, and he was sought. The next time he's going into the room as an adviser won't be for free; he would be paid consultancy.
What happened in the scenario? Mr. A used his time well, and when the opportunity showed up, he was prepared. Time and chance (opportunity)!

Timing is opportunity that shows up, and can only be taken depending on how well your time has been used. You have no reason not getting to where you want to be. Adjust the way you spend your time, and make something good out of it, that when the opportunity shows up, you will be good to go.

HOW A GUY WAS DUPED OF HIS SCHOOL FEES (BEWARE OF ATM CARD FRAUD!!!!!)

There are series of text messages that are going around now telling people that there is something wrong with their ATM card and they should call a certain number for it to be rectified and when you call such number you'd be asked to provide your ATM card details and pin please disregard such message.

Please take note that no bank or ATM card company such as Verve, Interswitch, VISA or MasterCard will never ask you to provide your card details to rectify any issue that might be wrong with your account so please disregard such text messages and if you are in doubt  when you receive such text messages please visit your bank immediately for verification before taking any further action.

Please don't ignore this and don't say you are too wise to fall victim i know of someone that was a victim of this just yesterday he got a similar text and because he was in  haste to prepare for school and he wanted to make a huge withdrawal so as to pay his school fees so he quickly replied the message so that they can rectify the so called problem before he gets to bank to make the withdrawal. He was in the bathroom when he received the debit alert of over N160,000 from his account he called the number provided in the text which is the so called customer care personel to lay the complain he was told that its just a system glitch that it would be rectified. It was later it dawned on him that he had been duped.
Please beware and be very watchful so you don't fall victim of these dubious people.

Do have a wonderful Tuesday ahead and God bless us all.

FOSSSA Election Interview

Here are the proccedings from the interview with one of the presidential candidates IHEZIE NONSO EMMANUEL CHARLES (INEC)

Interviewer:  We all have been hearing of INEC, is that your name or nickname or an acronym of your name? We are not sure and not everyone knows who INEC is so for the benefit of everybody can u please tell us who INEC is??

INEC: INEC is an acronym which represents my full name Ihezie Nonso Emmanuel Charles from the department of Psychology 300level. Should i say fortunately or unfortunately that INEC has taken the place of my real name.

Interviewer: As you well know the post of the President is not just positionosition it's a very vital post, What really motivated you to contest?  What was your driving force???

INEC: i have been in this faculty for a while an I've done my research and have known the places we have fallen short of standard and i know where we need to upgrade and i believe i have what it takes. If some one tells you our FOSSSA is in a bad state please discard such, our association is in good form but we need to make it better we need to progress.

Interviewer: its a know fact that all the departments in the faculty are united, so what is your plan to unite the faculty as a whole??

INEC: According to the FOSSSA constitution there's  what is known as the presidential executive council which constitute the presidents of the five various departments and the faculty president. The constitution enjoin them to meet time to time to discuss matters concerning the departments and the faculty as a whole. I plan to adhere strictly to this injuction from the constitution so has to move the faculty to  greater height of unity and achieveing harmony.

Interviewer: As you know not all the department in the faculty are resident in the faculty building. How do you intend to carry along all the departments that make up the faculty (Economics, Mass Communication, Political Science, Psychology and Sociology)

INEC: i believe my answer should be similar to the previous answer.  In terms of carry along all the departments of the faculty, by God's as the faculty president and by the virtue of my office i cannot be close directly to the individual members of the association (the students) but through the help of their  direct representatives that is their senate representatives an their judicial representatives with the interest of  the various at heart. With these necessary provision we will be able to carry along everyone along.

Interviewer: What do you have in store for us the good people of FOSSSA??

INEC: Quality representation, projecting the voice of th people i am representing which is the good people of FOSSSA.

Interviewer: What is your take on the power tussle between the Executive and the Judiciary and what is your plan towards this?

INEC: I'd make sure every arm of the government does what they are expected to do without any one encroaching into that of another only when when we have a common issue to sort out then we come together. I'd let the judiciary do its work, the senate house also work according to its purpose and the executive arm also work as its suppose to do without trying to override anyone of its responsibilities.

Interviewer: Which legacy would you leave at the end of your tenure what will the good people of FOSSSA know your administration for??

INEC: i believe in actions because action speaks louder than words but by God's grace I'd like my lid to impact the people I'd be leading if my life doesn't impact the people I'd be leading then I'd hag failed as a leader. I'd like my life to serve as an example to look up to, to hold as a reference. Starting from my declaration of interest, campaign period, canvasing i never for once relented not minding the obstacles along the way.
I'd also want it to be said of my regime that we made a lot of talent discoveries which would in turn help people stand on their own I'd be working with the director of socials and welfare to see how we can help the people of FOSSSA acquire new skills and make sure the social life of people are transformed.

Interviewer: What do we expect of INEC  after your stay here in school?? Where do you see yourself in the next 5 to 10 years???

INEC: By the grace of God after my first degree I would go for my masters and after which i plan to worn either in the Nigerian Navy or Customs, because i intend doing my meters in Industrial Psychology an th ideal working environment is th Navy or Customs and by the grace of who'd i could still venture into politics.

Interviewer: Thank you for your audience i wish you the best in your endeavours.

INEC: thank you and God bless

Please drop your comments thanks!!!

FOSSSA Election Interview

Here are the proccedings from the interview with one of the Presidential candidate NLEBEDIM IZUCHUKWU FRANK (FRANKSTRINGS)

Interviewer: We all have been hearing of FrankStrings, is that his name or nickname? We are not sure and not everyone knows who FrankStrings is so for the benefit of everybody can u please tell us who FrankStrings is??

Frank: Thank You FrankStrings is the nickname well my real name Nlebedim Izuchukwu Frank from the department of Psychology. I came into this school through the diploma program and this is my fourth year in the university. I hail from Abia State that's the little i will give about myself, that's am for now.
Interviewer As you well know the post of the President is not just positionosition it's a very vital post, What really motivated you to contest?  What was your driving force???

Frank: I actually came into the faculty 4 years ago through the diploma program and i said to myself what can i do in this faculty to make it a better place i must not hold a particular position before impacting and i started doing something rare only those in the main faculty will actually know about it, when we got into the 4th year i said i can actually go something more for the faculty and sometimes you have to be in a particular position to actualized those goals and ideas you have for the faculty. The major reason am vying for the position of  president is actually to do more go the faculty.

Interviewer: its a know fact that all the departments in the faculty are united, so what is your plan to unite the faculty as a whole??

Frank: I was in a gathering where all the departments were represented they were just having fun, making jest of themselves it was a wonderful atmosphere and i loved it. To make that kind of love grow stronger is the plan i have towards uniting the faculty. I plan to organise series of program such as intellectual copetitions and not forgetting the normal social night that will bring d whole faculty  under the same roof and that will give the love the chance to grow stronger.

Interviewer: As you know not all the department in the faculty are resident in the faculty building. How do you intend to carry along all the departments that make up the faculty (Economics, Mass Communication, Political Science, Psychology and Sociology)

Frank: i learnt so much during this campaign whereby i will leave my department to go visit other departments and classes in order for publicity and for them to know me and see me Bette and i don't think it will stop there. If i become the president I'd make out time to visit every department just to say hi to them and of i have a person is gift for  them i give. Its not going to be an easy task but there's always a way out and with th help of other excos i will make sure that the people are not  neglected.

Interviewer: What do you have in store for us the good people of FOSSSA??

Frank: Standardization of the faculty which started from my diploma days by keeping it clean, its also a way of making the faculty look attractive.
There will be help lines which anyone can reach the excos on and lay either complaints, make requests and give suggestions.
There will be suggestion  boxes where one can easily drop thief suggestions, complaints or request if there's no airtime to call the help lines.
Also we could also organise skill acquisition programs where people could acquire useful skills and training.

Interviewer: What is your take on th power tussle between the Executive and the Judiciary and what is your plan towards this??

Frank: This is a matter of understanding after the election there will be a get together which will be aimed at fostering a great relationship between the arms of government in FOSSSA before we start making plans for the faculty. When there's understanding between us i don't think such tussle will arise.

Interviewer: Which legacy would you leave at the end of your tenure, what will the good people of FOSSSA know your administration for??

Frank: standardization of the faculty when after i leave the next administration will benefit from it and also a better government we as excos will show good examples to those coming forth.

Interviewer: What do we expect of Frank after your stay here in school?? Where do you see yourself in the next 5 to 10 years???

Frank: By the grace of God a great Frank who is actually going to pour out this services outside the school environment and be a better citizen.

Interviewer: Thank you for your audience i wish you the best in your endeavours.

Frank: thank you and God bless

Please drop your comments thanks!!!!

FOSSSA Election Interviews

Hello readers,
In my last post i said i was going to be posting series of interviews with respect to the FOSSSA elections coming up in school below are the proceedings from the interview with OGBAJI NNAEMEKA (SHAKESPARE) he is vying for the position of Director of Socials and Welfare  (DOS)
Read and drop your comments thanks

Q: Can you please introduce yourself not everyone  knows your real name we are all conversant with your nickname "SHAKESPARE" please tell us who SHAKESPARE is

A: My My name is OGBAJI NNAEMEKA...shakespeare is more than my nick name, its part of my name too.

Q:  it is a known fact that you're vying for the post of the Director of Socials (DOS) in our prestigious association which is the Faculty of Social Sciences Student Association (FOSSSA). So can you please tell us what does the post of a DOS mean to you and what really motivated you to contest for such position???

A: its visible to the blind and audible to the deaf that I'm vying for that post.. Some might still not be informed, but allow me to say that OGBAJI NNAEMEKA SHAKESPEARE is vying for the post of director of socials and welfare.
Being  the director of socials simply means that who ever occupies that post ought to be very sensitive to the social activities of what ever association you find yourself. It is the sole duty of the DOS to organize events that keeps the spirit of the students alive and active and to create  an atmosphere that is competition friendly amongst the student.. I was motivated to run for the position because i believe  I'm a social friendly person and i intend to do something different this time around.

Q: We are all used to the ideology behind the post of a DOS what he is suppose to do and his area of expertise as we've been seeing in previous administrations can you tell us are we in for the same routine of the DOS or is there anything new you'd be bringing on board to make your regime as the DOS of FOSSSA a different one

A: like i said,i intend to do something new this time around. Organization of seminars to equip the students with tools that  would be useful to us in the real world and also coming up with amazing ideas that would bring all the 5 departments in the faculty more together..

Q: As the DOS of the faculty am sure you know that the success of any social event in d faculty as a whole lies in your hands when i say as a whole i mean comprising of all the departments (Economics, Mass Communication, Political Science, Psychology and Sociology). How do u intend to carry along all the departments so that the social welfare of any of these departments don't lag behind??

A:  working with all the departmental DOS Closely would do the job.

Q: Since i resumed school in 100level its a norm for us in FOSSSA to attach a gate fee to our faculty night well the students want to know would it be the same in your tenure??  Because we feel since we've paid our necessary FOSSSA dues the issue of gate fee should be covered by our dues so what's your take on this??

A: that would never happen.

Q: let me assume that you're someone with a vision because without a vision i don't think you'd be contesting for such a vital position in such a prestigious association as ours (FOSSSA). So one thing I'd like to know is this what will your tenure be known for after you're done what will people see and say that yes it was during Nnaemeka Ogbaji's tenure we had this we had that, what will the legacy you'd be leaving when your tenure is over???

A: without doubt, people would know my tenure for accountability and transparency.

Q: the last but not the least question,  this interview won't be complete if this question is left unanswered.  As you've led us to believe that you're a man with a vision I'd like to ask where do you see yourself in let's say 5 to 10 years time? Will all this zeal and agility just end here in school at the end of your four years or should we expect more in years to come???

A: i expect to see myself very successful,a well known event planner, and a human right activist.. Thank you.

Interviewer:  Its been a wonderful session with you sir i  wish you all the best in your ambitions

SHAKESPARE: Thank you.

please don't forget to drop your comments for the betterment of our association FOSSSA!!!

ANNOUNCEMENT!!!!

Hello readers,
I want to bring to your notice that there will be some series of posts  on the blog with regards to the forthcoming election in my faculty in school which is the Faculty of Social Sciences Student Association, Nnamdi Azikwe University (FOSSSA).
I just want to use this medium to give my fellow students an opportunity to know these candidates/aspirants and not to be fooled by words of mouth or nice quotes, gifts  etc. So that the students can know who these aspirants really are and what they have in store for them. So i plan on conducting an online interview which the proceedings of these interviews will be posted here on the blog and students will have the opportunity to comment and these comments would be taken seriously in order to help these candidates to represent us better when they finally get to power. Although these posts will be  directed  to the students of UNIZIK but that doesn't mean it is restricted to only UNIZIK students, so as an outsider if you feel you have any contribution to make please feel free to drop them in the comment section on the blog and it will be duly considered.
We look forward to hear from you. Thanks and God bless us all.

Happy New Year!!!! 2016

I know this post is long overdue well, the year is still fresh so i guess am not too late.
Let me officially wish you guys a Happy New Year!!!  May all your heart desires be granted and may the year be a better year for us all in all ramifications. I welcome you all to a year of greater things and extraordinary blessings. Do have a superb year ahead.
As we all know a new year is a new beginning, a new chapter of our life, another chance to get it right and live a better life. It is a norm for most people to have New Year Resolutions but the point is not just having New Year Resolutions but the point is sticking to these resolutions we've made because if at the end of the year and at the beginning of next year we still make the same resolutions it would have been a wasted year in that aspect.
Most of us have vision and goals for the year which is also good i implore us not to loose track of these visions and goals let them serve as a compass and a guide for us in the course of the year let them be the driving force and the motivator in all we find ourselves doing. Lets drop anything that won't help us achieve our set goals and do more of what will propel us to reach our desired goals.
One last thing I'd like to add is that in all our endeavors, aspirations and plans we should not forget God. Lets make God the first resort in everything we do. Lets make this year a year of a closer walk with God according to the Bible it says that "God is alpha and omega, the beginning and the end, the first and last". If we take God along in all we do we are bound to see Him move in tremendous ways. We should not make the mistake of making God our last resort after we've tried out every possible solutions and we now run to God trying to find pity instead of making Him the first place. The bible said in Matthew 6 vs 33 "But seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."  If you understand that verse of scripture you'd know the importance of seeking God first,  the importance of making God our priority and the blessings that goes with.
I pray that God will give us all the grace to make Him our priority this year and we will be partakers of God's blessings for us this year and when its time for us to reap the fruit of our labour may we not be missing In Jesus name.  Amen!!!
From all of us at ‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌ theonlyebuka we wish you a wonderful new year. God bless us all.
